- (April 28, 1952, Alep, Syria-)Born of a Bulgarian mother (her grandmother was Russian) and a Lebanese father, she was educated by Catholic missionaries (among which were Jesuits). At age nineteen, she left Lebanon to study in Paris. While preparing for her bachelor's degree in English at the Sorbonne University, she passed the exam of IDHEC film school (directing department). At the same time, she took acting courses.
