- (January 31, 1947, Choisy-le-Roi, Hauts-de-Seine, France - )He gave up his studies in biology at the Ecole normale supérieure in 1969 to enroll in the Beaux-Arts. Then he broke off his artistic studies to become a production designer (1975 Souvenirs d'en France / USA: French Provincial, André Téchiné). After writing an unfilmed screenplay, Les Funérailles de Kropotkine, he directed his first movie in 1976.
