   Of Moroccan descent, he grew up in Crest, Drôme, France, where he met director Cédric Kahn, who hired him as co-screenwriter (1994 Tous les Garçons et les Filles de leur Âge . . . , episode "Bonheur", released theatrically as Trop de Bonheur, Cédric Kahn; 1996 Culpabilité Zéro / USA: Zero Guilt, Cédric Kahn; 2005 L'Avion / Avion—Das Zauberflugzeug, Cédric Kahn, France / Germany). He turned a director in 1993. Other credit (as co-screenwriter): 2004 Une Place au Soleil (short, Rachid Boutounès).
