Dardenne, Jean-Pierre

(April 21, 1951, En-gis, Belgium-) and Dardenne, Luc (March 10, 1954, Awirs, Belgium-)

   In 1969, Jean-Pierre began theatrical studies at the Louvain-la-Neuve IAD (Institut des Arts de Diffusion) and became an assistant to stage director Ar­mand Gatti (1972-1973). Luc studied philosophy and sociology at the Catholic University of Louvain and started out directing videos. In 1975, they founded a production workshop, Dérives, which financed more than fifty documentaries.
