Warin, Francis

(1930, Paris, France - )

   He was only sixteen years old when he discovered the nightlife and jazz clubs (Le Tabou, Le Lorientais, Le Club Saint-Germain-des-Prés) of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. While he was still studying at the IDHEC, he learned drawing at the Académie Jullian. From 1951 to 1953, he traveled around the world and was notably under the spell of the West Indies. Having returned to France, he worked as an assistant direc­tor to Henri-Georges Clouzot (1954 Les Diaboliques / UK: The Fiends / USA: Diabolique / US TV: The Devils). After his military service in the French army's Cin­ematographic Service, he shared his time between cinema and painting. From the 1960s to the early 1980s, he shot many TV reports.
