- (January 24, 1947, Paris, France-)He started directing Bertolt Brecht's plays in Aix-en-Provence (The Guns of Carrar; Saint-Joan of the Slaughterhouses) in 1965 before directing political documentaries. From 1971 to 1978, he gave up cinema to work in a factory.
