Richard, Jacques

(March 31, 1954, Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France - )

   In 1973, he started as a freelance journalist for La Nouvelle République and L'Equipe. The following year, he was an assistant to Henri Langlois at the Cin­emathèque Française and also a trainee assistant di­rector to Jean Eustache, Benoît Jacquot, and Philippe Garrel. In 1975, he directed his first movie while still writing film reviews for Libération and Art Press and working as a press attaché for movie theater La Clef. In 1977, he founded a production company, Les Films Elémentaires.
