Overhelmed by the rout of 1940, he became a convinced Petainist and published articles in collaborationist newspapers under the pseudonym of Paul Riche. He notably was chief editor of L'Appel. A former Freemason, he directed the antimasonic medium-length Forces occultes, in which he denounced the ascendancy of Freemasonry over French society and its supposed responsibility in the defeat. In August 1944, his mother was arrested by the FFI (French Resistance), and he gave himself up. He had to wait for four years to be judged and then sentenced to death. He was shot in March 1949. A playwright, he also authored poems in jail that were collected by his son and published in Swiss in 1963 (Les Barreaux d'Or).Filmography1931 ◘ Baleydier1933 ◘ Le Chemin du Bonheur1943 ◘ Forces occultes (medium-length; as Paul Riche; also adapter, dialogist)
