   Tunisian born, he arrived in France in 1967. Having trained as an actor at the Conservatory of Antibes, he made his stage debut in 1978 and directed his first play in Avignon at age twenty-one (L'Architecte et l'Empereur d'Abyssinie, Arrabal).
